Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province recently made the list of national model cities in terms of bus service.

Thirteen cites from across the nation received the honor conferred by the Ministry of Transport.

An urban-rural bus service system has been put in place in Huzhou since June 2021, and the satisfaction rate among passengers towards bus services has reached 92.4 percent.

All buses running on roads in the city are now completely powered by electricity and support mobile payment systems.

In addition, Huzhou has launched a campaign which involves installing an electronic screen at each bus stop that provides bus arrival information.

The city has also launched a fixed-fare system, meaning the fare is no longer decided by distance, and this has significantly slashed public transportation costs.

Efforts have also been made to optimize bus service quality. Nighttime bus lines, those specifically catered to tourists as well as those featuring special themes have been opened to afford the public with more options.

The local government has set the target of investing 150 billion yuan ($23.08 billion) in transportation during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.
