Two counties – Changxing and Anji - in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province recently made the list of the first group of innovation-driven counties in China.

A total of 47 counties (county-level cities) across the nation were included in the list, which was released by the Ministry of Science and Technology on Aug 30.

The ministry had in 2018 launched the campaign to strengthen innovation capabilities among counties and set the goal of building 100 innovation-driven counties by 2025.

The listed counties will leverage science and technology to bolster either industrial development, ecological civilization or people's livelihoods.

Changxing was recognized for its innovations in boosting industrial development, while Anji was honored for its innovative development in environmental protection.
