The fifth Moganshan Conference themed on rural vitalization and common prosperity commenced in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province on Sept 6.

Zheng Jianbang, vice-chairman of the CPPCC National Committee, noted at the opening ceremony that the conference has become an important platform to showcase the nation's achievement in rural vitalization, and called for more efforts to increase farmers' income, pursue green and low-carbon development, enrich spiritual life of rural residents and deepen institutional reform to boost common prosperity.

Qiu Qiwen, director of the United Front Work Department of the CPC Zhejiang Provincial Committee, pointed out that Zhejiang is among the few provinces in the nation to have a robust rural economy, beautiful rural environment, and coordinated urban-rural development. He added that the province will strive to be a national model in urban-rural integration and rural vitalization.

Li Chunsheng, vice chairman of the NPC Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee, and Song Jianchao, a member of the Agriculture and Rural Affairs Committee of the CPPCC National Committee, expressed hope that Zhejiang, which is China's first province to be designated a demonstration zone for achieving common prosperity, will provide replicable experiences for promoting common prosperity in the country.

The conference also saw scholars and experts discussing topics such as the boosting of rural vitalization through the use of financial tools and digital technologies, as well as the signing of 41 investment deals worth 23.18 billion yuan ($3.57 billion).
