Huzhou's tourism industry logged a strong recovery during the Spring Festival holiday that ended on Jan 27, following the nation's optimization of COVID-19 control policies.

The city's A-level scenic spots, hotels, and cultural venues recorded 3.58 million tourist trips amid the week-long holiday, generating 4.75 billion yuan ($678.57 million) in revenue. The number of visitors to Nanxun Ancient Town, a national 5A scenic spot in Huzhou's Nanxun district, hit a record high, with the revenue generated during the holiday surging by 396 percent year-on-year to 228.7 million yuan.

Other popular tourist attractions in the city like Taihu Lake Longemont Paradise, Skyland, and Mount Mogan received 374,000, 58,500, and 24,000 visitors respectively.

In addition, 486 cultural events, including lantern shows, exhibitions, and book fairs, were staged across Huzhou during the holiday, attracting more than 3.46 million visitors.

The holiday also saw robust growth in consumption. The operating revenue of 16 monitored cinemas in the city amounted to 23.72 million yuan from Jan 20 to 27, equivalent to the same period last year.
