More than 90 percent of industrial enterprises above designated size in Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province had resumed production as of Feb 2.

The high rate of work resumption is due to companies expecting a spike in orders following the Spring Festival holiday which ended on Jan 27.

"Huzhou's industrial economy withstood the test and showed resilience in 2022. All entrepreneurs who attended a meeting expressed optimism about development in the new year," said an official at the Huzhou Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.

Despite headwinds created by macroeconomic factors and the COVID-19 pandemic, Huzhou's above-designated-size companies achieved 132.49 billion yuan ($18.93 billion) in added value in 2022, up 3 percent year-on-year. Its key industries like high-tech manufacturing also displayed stable growth.

Lyu Shengwei, the head of a workshop at Zhejiang Lixiang Wood Industry Co Ltd, a company that specializes in the R&D, production and sales of fiberboards, said they had resumed production right after the holiday as orders from clients in the Yangtze River Delta had increased significantly.

Huzhou has set the goal of completing 100 projects each valued at 10 billion yuan or above and commencing construction on another 100 projects in the first quarter of this year.
