Primary and secondary schools across Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province started the new semester on Feb 6, local media reported.

The resumption of classes on campus comes following the nation's loosening of COVID-19 control measures.

Students were greeted with a number of fun activities on their first day of schooling.

For example, the Primary School Affiliated to Huzhou University staged an exhibition featuring photos of students wearing smiles at its entrance. The photos were arranged in the pattern of a rabbit.

Zhang Lei, a teacher at the school, said that the event was held to create a relaxed and happy atmosphere.

Over at Changxing No1 Primary School, more than 5,700 car models crafted by students during the winter vacation were put on display to welcome the children.

Some schools have even prepared various kinds of red packets for students.

At Changxing Huashengda Experimental School, these red packets came with coupons that allow students to be exempted from homework or redeem either a free meal, picnic or movie ticket.

Over at Anji No 7 Primary School, 2,138 red pockets containing similar coupons and candies were handed out to students on the first day of the new semester.
