All administrative areas under the jurisdiction of Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province recently made the 2022 list of national advanced places in terms of digitalization in agriculture and rural areas.

This is the fourth time that Huzhou has had all of its administrative areas classified as areas that have highly digitalized agricultural and rural areas, making it the first city in the nation to achieve this feat.

Yu Caiying, a resident from Guanyintang village in Huzhou's Nanxun district, is a beneficiary of a digital home-based nursing system. The 80-year-old, who lives alone, can request for assistance simply by pressing buttons installed in her house.

Huzhou has also posted outstanding performances in promoting digitalization in agriculture in recent years.

Li Xiaobin, the owner of a smart fish pond in Huzhou's Wuxing district, said that he can retrieve any information related to ponds such as pH value, temperature and dissolved oxygen concentration via his cellphone.

Digitalization has also allowed him to slash labor costs and increase production volume. "We can now rear 40 to 50 kilograms of fish in one cubic meter of water indoors. But with the same space, only 1 kg of fish can be farmed outdoors. Our production is now also not affected by the weather," said Li.

Huzhou is currently home to three provincial "future farms" and 12 provincial digital agricultural factories, both of which are the highest in Zhejiang.
