Huzhou tops Zhejiang in educational modernization

Huzhou was recently ranked first among cities in Zhejiang in a provincial appraisal for educational modernization, according to local education authorities.

The city achieved a score of 80.58 out of 100 points, the highest in Zhejiang.

Huzhou has in recent years made strides in improving education quality and promoting the sharing of quality educational resources.

All compulsory education resources in the city can now be accessed by students online and offline.

In 2022, 239 outstanding teachers from schools in its urban area were dispatched to rural schools for academic exchanges.

Last year, 37 new primary and middle schools or kindergartens were built in Huzhou. This year, the city has set the goal of building or expanding another 12 schools which can enroll a total of 13,000 students.

In addition, authorities are aiming to raise the proportion of public kindergartens to over 80 percent of the city's total, build 20 provincial modern schools, and lift the employment rate of secondary vocational graduates to more than 98 percent this year.

The city will also strive to ensure that the children of all non-locals have access to local schools.
