The 18th China Plum Blossom & Wintersweet Exhibition will commence in Changxing county, Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, on Feb 18, local media reported.

The biennial expo, which is sponsored by China Flower Association and the governments of the host venues, aims to promote Chinese plum culture and strengthen cooperation and exchanges related to the floral art.

Apart from the exhibition, which will run until March 10, a number of meetings and forums themed on the two varieties of flowers will be held in Changxing, according to the organizers.

Changxing, dubbed "the hometown of red plum in China", produces about 600,000 plum trees annually, generating nearly 750 million yuan ($110.13 million) in revenue, which accounts for 22.8 percent of the total in county's flower and seedling industry.

In 2021, Changxing established the nation's first plum germplasm resource bank, which specializes in the acquisition, storage, research and development of plum varieties.
