Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province recently unveiled 10 tasks to improve the quality of life of its residents in 2023.

The tasks compiled by the local government were released at the third session of the ninth Huzhou Municipal People's Congress, which commenced on Feb 26.

One of the tasks would be enhancing education levels. This year, Huzhou plans to construct or expand six kindergartens and six compulsory education schools, ensuring all children of migrant workers in the city have access to local schools.

The city will also work to improve the city's traffic conditions by building or renovating more than 350 kilometers of rural roads.

More efforts will be made to promote green development. Huzhou plans to implement 12 projects to enhance the water ecological environment and increase the disposal rate of hazardous waste to 98 percent.

In addition, authorities will spare no efforts to increase residents' incomes. The goals set involve creating an additional 600,000 urban jobs, helping 4,000 people get re-employed, and ensuring that more than 90 percent of its administrative villages have an annual operating income of more than 800,000 yuan ($115,942) this year.

More care will be provided for the needy. The minimum annual subsistence allowances for its urban and rural residents are expected to be raised to more than 13,000 yuan this year.

The city will also further enhance the public health service and safety levels while ramping up efforts to ensure food and drug safety.
