Visitors from East China's Zhejiang province will be exempt from admission fees to Chaka Salt Lake, a renowned scenic attraction in Wulan county in Qinghai province, starting from March 17, when it reopened to the public after three months of renovations.

A travel group comprising more than 20 visitors from Huzhou's Deqiing county arrived at the scenic spot that day, becoming the first group of beneficiaries from the policy.

In June 2010, Huzhou was paired with Wulan under the east-west poverty relief program launched by the central government. Wulan was deemed to have eradicated poverty in November 2017.

In 2021, Huzhou Communications Investment Group acquired the controlling rights of Chaka Salt Lake before upgrading it into a comprehensive scenic spot that integrates services related to lake sightseeing, accommodation, catering, leisure and holiday.

Fei Huiwei, deputy general manager of Chaka Salt Lake, expects the scenic spot to welcome more than 1 million visitors this year.

To date, the scenic spot has created more than 100 jobs for locals. An additional 250 employment opportunities are expected to be made available this summer during the peak tourism season.
