Construction on the Huzhou-Hangzhou Highway, which links Huzhou, East China's Zhejiang province, with the provincial capital of Hangzhou, is currently underway.

On May 8, production of prefabricated beams for the road's Wuxing-Deqing section was completed, laying a solid foundation for the subsequent construction of bridge decks and ancillary projects.

The Huzhou-Hangzhou Highway has been listed as a major transportation project in Zhejiang during the 14th Five-Year Plan (2021-25) period.

An 80-mu (5.33 hectares) beam construction site has been built for the project, the first smart beam field in Zhejiang, which takes up 45 percent less space than traditional beam sites.

The road, scheduled to open in 2024, is expected to greatly relieve traffic congestion on the existing G25 and S13 expressways.
