Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province is leading the way in promoting green manufacturing, according to official statistics.

Currently, Huzhou boasts six national-level green parks, 32 national-level green supply chain management companies, and 15 national-level green product design demonstration companies, more than anywhere else in the province on all three counts.

One outstanding example of Huzhou's achievements in green manufacturing is Huzhou Nanyang Electric-Motor Co Ltd, located in the Nanxun Economic Development Zone. The company has implemented a photovoltaic power generation system, resulting in an annual reduction of 1.35 million yuan ($185,245) in electricity expenses. Additionally, the automation upgrade of the company's 37 production lines has led to a 55 percent increase in per capita production efficiency and a 14 percent decrease in comprehensive manufacturing costs. Because of its commitment to green manufacturing, Nanyang has been recognized as a provincial-level green and low-carbon factory.

The local government has been making sustained efforts to eliminate outdated production capacity in three key industries: non-metallic mineral products, chemical fibers, and non-ferrous metals.

In the first half of this year, more than 132 technology transformation projects were successfully implemented, focusing on energy-efficiency and carbon reduction. Among these projects, 22 were listed as provincial demonstration projects for transforming production and manufacturing methods. This accounts for 24 percent of the total in Zhejiang and is more than anywhere else in the province.
