Huzhou in East China's Zhejiang province saw a significant increase in tourism during the combined Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day holiday.

From Sept 29 to Oct 6, the eight-day holiday saw a combination of Mid-Autumn Festival and National Day celebrations.

According to data from local tourism authorities, Huzhou's A-level scenic spots, hotels, rural attractions, and cultural venues welcomed over 7.85 million visitors during the holiday period, generating approximately 9.82 billion yuan ($1.34 billion) in tourism-related revenue. These figures represent impressive increases of 28.05 percent and 58.98 percent, respectively, compared to the same period in 2019, prior to the pandemic.

Popular attractions in the city during the holiday included Nanxun Ancient Town, Skyland Scenic Spot, and Mount Mogan Scenic Spot.

Younger tourists still prefer visiting the countryside, as reflected in the 11.82 percent increase in per capita consumption among visitors to Huzhou's rural scenic spots during the eight-day holiday.

In addition, the city's cultural venues, such as libraries, museums, and galleries, hosted a total of 710 activities such as exhibitions during the period. These diverse offerings aimed to cater to both local residents and visitors seeking varied travel options.
