The National Forum on the Protection, Utilization, and Development of Ancient Villages and Towns recently took place in Anji county, Huzhou, Zhejiang province.

During the event, Yangfeng village in Huzhou's Changxing county was honored as an outstanding example of preserving and utilizing rural ancient buildings in China.

With its expansive area of nearly 30,000 square meters, Yangfeng boasts well-preserved ancient buildings, making it the largest and most well-preserved revolutionary site from the Anti-Japanese War in the Jiangnan region. In recent years, the village has made significant efforts to promote its Red culture and enhance village preservation, which has garnered significant attention.

Among the traditional crafts upheld in Yangfeng village is the art of making maltose. This age-old practice has even been recognized as a form of provincial traditional culture. As a result of increasing numbers of tourists, there has been a surge in demand for maltose, leading many villagers to establish food processing factories within their residences. This development has allowed for traditional ethnic foods to be produced on a larger scale.

With the influx of visitors, the village has also seen the emergence of homestays, offering visitors a chance to experience rural life firsthand. Presently, there are approximately 20 star-rated homestays available to visitors in Yangfeng village.
