Digang village, nestled in Huzhou's Nanxun district, came alive on Jan 5 as it played host to a traditional fish cultural festival. Drawing crowds from all corners of the nation, this cherished annual event served as a delightful prelude to the New Year.

Renowned for its mulberry fish ponds, Digang holds a special place in history. The village boasts a unique dike-pond model that intertwines fish farming with the breeding of mulberry silkworms. In recognition of its significance, this model was honored as a Globally Important Agricultural Heritage System by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations in 2017.

Visitors were treated to a delectable feast, featuring the mouthwatering Yutangfan, a dish of rice stewed in fish soup, among other culinary delights. The event also showcased a captivating array of local folk performances, all centered around the theme of fish.
