Shandong's grain output leads in 2024

In 2024, the total grain purchase volume in Shandong province reached 40.17 million metric tons, with a total purchase and sales volume of 165 million tons. Currently, 6.52 million tons of autumn grain has been accumulated.

This was announced at the provincial grain and material reserve work conference held in Jinan, the capital city of Shandong province, on Feb 13.

Shandong is the leading grain-producing province with 1/8 of the national grain output last year. Through strengthened brand building, "Qilu Grain and Oil" has been honored as a prominent public brand in the Chinese grain and oil industry for six consecutive years.

Meanwhile, the province makes efforts on supporting local characteristic advantageous industries. Tai'an focuses on the industrialized development of staple foods, leading the creation of the brand "Shandong Pancake". There are now 55 modern pancake processing enterprises, more than 10,000 individual processing households, with an annual output of 200,000 tons and a production value of over 30 billion yuan ($412.48 million).

The Binzhou grain and food industry cluster has been selected as a pillar-type cluster in the province, with the main business income of the grain and food industry cluster surpassing 200 billion yuan.

In recent years, Shandong's grain storage and emergency guarantee capabilities have steadily improved, with a total of 3,463 grain emergency processing enterprises, distribution centers, storage and transportation enterprises, guarantee centers, and supply outlets established across the province, according to Meng Jun, deputy director of the Shandong Provincial Grain and Material Reserve Bureau.
