Shandong's trade-in policy has proved highly effective, with the province's home appliance market seeing a 40 to 60 percent surge in sales through the policy since its implementation in September 2024.

This year, the province will continue its efforts to offer a better life for consumers by implementing national subsidies and corporate subsidies as well as holding consumption events throughout the year.

The trade-in policy will remain in effect for the entirety of 2025, with both the duration of activities and the scope of subsidies to be expanded, according to Tian Zhanjun, chairman of the Shandong Household Appliance Industry Association.

In 2025, the association will continue to organize brand promotion events such as the "Shandong Home Appliance Consumption Festival" and the "Shandong Home Appliance Service Festival" in an effort to increase consumer satisfaction.

Meanwhile, the association aims to collaborate with home appliance manufacturers and distributors to hold no fewer than 100 events throughout the year, with the goal of boosting consumer spending to at least 20 billion yuan ($2.75 billion), Tian added.

Furthermore, in enhancing the consumer experience, the association will guide home appliance companies to use more advanced, intuitive, and scientific technologies and immersive setups, allowing residents to see exactly what they get when purchasing home appliances.

The association will also employ digital vans, high-quality exhibitions, boutique showrooms, community experience activities, popular science promotion, and AR/VR to increase consumer interest in new types of home appliance products.
