With rich tourism resources of great natural endowments and strong characteristics, Guangyuan is one of the regions with the richest tourism resources in Sichuan province, and the best destination of ecological leisure, holiday and tourism. It boosts various famous historic and cultural sites and abundant natural cultural tourism resources, 8 National Cultural Relics Protection Units, 4 National Intangible Cultural Heritage, 1 National Historical and Cultural Town, 3 National Scenic Spots, 2 National Nature Reserves, 3 National Forest Parks, 1 National Geopark and 2 National Wetland Parks. There is 1 National Water Conservancy Scenic Spot and 5 Chinese Red Classic Tourist Scenic Spots.
In terms of forest resources, as a national forest city and a national garden city, Guangyuan has a forest coverage rate of 57.47%, a forest area of 14.07 million mu, a forest stock of 59.90 million cubic meters, a living wood stock of 63.93 million cubic meters, and a forest stock of 15.96 million mu. There are 13 nature reserves such as Micang Mountain and Tianzhao Mountain, 10 forest parks such as Jianmenguan and Cangxi, and 2 national wetland parks including Nanhe Sichuan and Bailin Lake in Zhaohua.
Focusing on green living, the annual ambient air quality of Guangyuan city is above 95%; The urban and rural domestic waste sorting system has been basically completed; the surface water quality continued to maintain 100%.
Focusing on ecological, Guangyuan has 104 species of land wild animals under key provincial protection or above, including 13 species of first-class state protected wild animals such as giant panda, golden snub-nosed monkey and tortilla antelope, and 66 species of second-class state protected wild animals such as Tibetan macaque, red panda and blood pheasant. There are 35 species of land wild plants under key protection at or above provincial level, including 9 species of yew, dove tree and ginkgo biloba, and 24 species of camphor, Taiwan water cypress and Qinling abies.
Guangyuan is featured with unique cultural and tourism characteristics. It has rich culture and tourism resources of ancient pre-Qin Plane Road culture and Shu Road culture, but also the key pass of the Three Kingdoms.
Nowadays, It has 48 national class-A tourism attractions including 1 national class-AAAAA tourism attraction, Jianmen Pass, Jianmen Shu Path, 21 national class-AAAA tourism attractions including Huangze Temple, Zhaohua Ancient City, Tangjia River and Gucheng Mountain-Qili Gorge, and build national leisure agriculture and rural tourism demonstration counties.
Besides, by fully leveraging its advantages in high-quality ecologic and geological resources, Guangyuan has developed more than 300 kinds of tourism commodities such as Maliu Embroidery, Baihua stone carving, Jianmen walking stick, 26 national geographical indication products such as red-core kiwi fruit and Micangshan tea, and "Queen flavor" dishes such as Jianmen bean curd banquet, Qingchuan mountain treasure pot, Jialingjiang River fresh food, and local specialty snacks such as Queen’s steamed noodles and Chaotian walnut cake.
Key word four: looking into the future
The prosperity of cultural tourism industry benefits from economic development. During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, Guangyuan made marked achievements in developing itself into a more prominent economic power in Sichuan province. In 2019, the city's GDP increased by 7.5% to 94.185 billion RMB; In 2020, the total GDP of the city will exceed 100 billion RMB, reaching 100.801 billion RMB.
Based on the economic development, Guangyuan stands at a new historical turning point and aims to become a health preservation and retirement life in western China.
During the "13th Five-Year Plan" period, Guangyuan focused on promoting its cultural and tourism industry as one of the city's key industries. By implementing strategic planning designed by government, Guangyuan introduced well-known international and domestic cultural enterprises to boost city’s high-end culture and tourism industry.
Till 2020, all A-level tourist attractions in the city have been connected with Wifi and monitoring system. Guangyuan airport had added six airline routes, and 11 routes have been opened in Beijing and Shanghai, with an annual throughput of nearly 600,000 passengers. There are 18 star hotels in the city, including 1 five-star hotel, 2 four-star hotels and 10 three-star hotels. The "three-year" toilet action plan has been promoted. Up to 2020, Guangyuan developed 128 new toilets and 113 toilets have been rebuilt. All toilets can be found on Baidu map in order to improve the tourism services.
In addition to sanitary, Guangyuan integrates medical industry into tourism industry. For example, to promote traditional Chinese medicine culture through The Museum of Traditional Chinese Medicine, boutique traditional Chinese medicine, traditional Chinese medicine restaurant and more.
Being a modern city focusing on "healed with medicines and daily care", Guangyuan continues to accelerate the overall planning of medical services and elderly care service resources, the ground-breaking achievements have been made on every front and the profound and fundamental changes that have taken place. Guangyuan aims to be a medical care and elderly care center in the joint area of Sichuan, Shaanxi and Gansu.
In recent years, the output value of the cultural tourism industry accounts for an increasing proportion of the city's GDP, now the tourism industry has become a new growth point for the Guangyuan economy. From 2016 to 2019, Guangyuan city has received 189.5885 million tourists, with a total tourism comprehensive income of 152.093 billion RMB. In 2019, the city received 56.2345 million tourists, 1.7 times of that in 2015, and realized a comprehensive tourism income of 50.262 billion RMB, 2.4 times of that in 2015. In 2020, Guangyuan expected to receive 45.8445 million tourists, with a total tourism revenue of 48.438 billion RMB, making the first tourism peak in Guangyuan since the outbreak of the Covid-19 epidemic.
