The museum, located in the key scenic area of the Sichuan Jianmenguan Geology Park, began construction in October 2010 and opened to the public in July 2011.

With a floor area of 311.39 square meters, the museum uses media such as three-dimensional models, pictures, minerals, fossils and modern technologies to show visitors the history of Jianmenguan's Danxia landforms and geology.

In this way, it integrates scientific research, education, entertainment and tourism, achieving a perfect combination of science and the arts. It is a first-class education center for Danxia landforms.
