North Sichuan College of Preschool Teacher Education
The North Sichuan College of Preschool Teacher Education is a public full-time ordinary college approved by the Sichuan Provincial People's Government. The school's predecessor was Sichuan Guangyuan Normal School, one of the 100 advanced normal schools in the country, which was initiated in 1902 and founded in 1937.
The school is located in Guangyuan, hometown of the Empress Wu Zetian and according to some the most livable city in the country. The campus is surrounded by mountains and rivers. Covering 503 mu (335,333 square meters), the school construction area is nearly 180,000 square meters. There are seven training centers in the school for pre-school education, teachers' professional ability development, information technology, scientific inquiry, mental health education, art education, social service and health management.
The school has more than 200 rooms with various training functions and teaching instruments and equipment worth more than 60 million yuan. The library has more than 500,000 paper books, 310,000 electronic books and 423 different academic journals.
There are three affiliated kindergartens, 179 off-campus educational practice bases and 23 campus communities. One provincial training center, two municipal training centers, one municipal research and development center and four research institutes have been established.
The school has trained tens of thousands of talents, and has made outstanding contributions to the rapid development of national education and the local economy. The school operates 10 teaching departments and offers 23 junior college majors. Currently, there are 8,700 full-time students in the school. It has published more 166 academic monographs and textbooks as well as more than 1,000 academic papers, and established more than 150 provincial and ministerial-level projects.
Students at the school have won more than 200 awards at or above national and provincial levels in recent years in various professional skill competitions.
The school insists on serving society and promoting local culture. It has successively signed strategic cooperation framework agreements with more than ten county and district governments and municipal departments, and carried out normalized cooperation in education, sports, cultural tourism, civil affairs and precision poverty alleviation to help regional economic and social development.
The school insists on opening up and expanding exchanges and cooperation. It strives to carry out intra-school cooperation as well as school-enterprise cooperation, and to expand cooperation with foreign countries and regions. For example, it has built pre-school education and rehabilitation technology majors with Taiwan's Fooyin University, set up the China-Thailand Silk Road International College with the University of the Thai Chamber of Commerce, and carried out academic and cultural exchanges with Ufa State Petroleum Technological University, Germany's Landshut technical college and Thailand's Krirk University.
