Cutting-edge companies settle in Anhui tech hub

Four domestic high-tech enterprises recently settled in the Grand Union of Innovation, or GUI - an innovation service platform based in Hefei, capital of East China's Anhui province.

Jugong Technology's liquid rocket engine HQ will move to GUI

The Hefei National High-tech Industry Development Zone and Anhui Jugong Technology Co Ltd held a signing ceremony on Jan 9 for the group's planned next-generation liquid rocket engine headquarters to be based there.

Anhui Jugong Technology Co Ltd manufactures advanced liquid rocket engines. Its founding team has gathered top people in liquid rocket engines - with over 20 years of engine research and development experience - so it can get the best results in the commercial aerospace field.

The company plans to invest 500 million yuan ($69 million) in the HQ. It's expected to achieve a cumulative output value of over 2 billion yuan ($270 million) in five years after the project goes into operation.

PhaBuilder shifts to core area of Grand Union of Innovation

Leading synthetic biotechnology company PhaBuilder - which focuses on the transformation and engineering of halophilic microorganisms - recently completed its registration and settled in the core area of the Grand Union of Innovation.

PhaBuilder was founded in February 2021 by Professor Chen Guoqiang, director of the Center for Synthesis and Systems Biology at Beijing's Tsinghua University.

It mainly uses a cutting-edge platform called the "Next Generation Industrial Biotechnology (NGIB)" to develop and produce a variety of high-value-added products. These include PHA, a biodegradable material; ectoine, a pharmaceutical intermediate; and cadaverine, a Nylon 56 precursor.

Maishi methanol ship design, intelligent system moves in

The Maishi Maritime (Suzhou) methanol ship design and intelligent system project, through its wholly-owned subsidiary in Hefei - Maishi Maritime (Hefei) Technology Co Ltd - has settled in the GUI.

The R&D team mainly comes from Shanghai Jiao Tong University, Shanghai Maritime University and other areas of ship design and industry know-how.

The project is primarily engaged in methanol ship R&D designs, as well as providing solutions for ship methanol fuel power systems, intelligent management systems and methanol fuel supply systems.

Hechen Technology establishes itself in GUI's Shushan area

Go-ahead company Hefei Hechen Technology Co Ltd recently settled in the Shushan area of the GUI.

The group is mainly engaged in the research and development of fume purification in the catering industry.

It focuses on the use of catalytic combustion and other related new material technologies to efficiently treat and eliminate volatile organic compounds, or VOCs and particulate matter, or PMs. This helps improve the air quality in catering environments and reduce the impact of environmental pollution on ecosystems.

The team members possess expertise in multiple fields - including catalyst designs and developments, system integration and optimization and project management. As a result, it has developed an efficient oil fume treatment device that can be introduced to the market.
