Hefei Party chief stresses cluster development of emerging industries

Yu Aihua, Party chief of Hefei, visited Shushan district on Jan 29 and emphasized cluster development of emerging industries in Shushan Area of Hefei Area of China (Anhui) Pilot Free Trade Zone.

Yu learned the significant progress made by the Hefei Area of Anhui FTZ and paid a visit to the Cross-border E-commerce Headquarters Base Project, one of the highlights achieved at Shushan Area.

The project has attracted a number of major businesses, including the headquarters of leading companies and 10 leading construction firms. These companies are widely said to have helped drive the agglomerative growth of over 240 small and medium-sized enterprises.

Yu learned about the overall planning, construction and progress of the project. He called on the base to focus on developing industry clusters and stressed the importance of promoting the development of the construction industry, energy conservation and environmental protection, digital economy, and cross-border e-commerce industries.

The Shushan district is home to the Anhui Hospital Branch of the Shanghai University of Traditional Chinese Medicine Shuguang Hospital, the first national TCM regional medical center in Anhui province.

Yu visited its construction site and learned about the planning and design. He emphasized the importance of providing high-quality medical care to the people – adding that it was necessary to develop on-site planning rather than planning only on paper.

During his visit to the Grand Union of Innovation Shushan Park, the Party chief set forward a number of requirements. To develop the innovation industry, both large and small enterprises should be supported, he said.

The GUI Shushan Park has made great strides in sci-tech development. It helped more than 100 companies to facilitate their sci-tech achievements transformation and cultivated 790 high-tech enterprises.

Yu visited several key enterprises in Shushan district such as Alpha Startups, Key-On New Material, and Smart Earth Sensing (Hefei) Technology Co Ltd to learn about their operations and innovative products.

Yu also pointed out that universities, major research institutes and major laboratories should be leveraged to incubate and transform technologies. As well, more good technologies should be brought in, good enterprises should be nurtured and good products should be put to use.

This would help to spawn more national high-tech enterprises, specialized and sophisticated enterprises and listed companies, he concluded.
