Long-term efforts drive innovation, industry in Hefei

On April 25, a four-day study tour organized by the All-China Journalists Association concluded with an in-depth exploration of Hefei's innovative ecosystem. Media highlighted the Grand Union of Innovation's (GUi) role in driving industrial growth in Hefei. 

Journalists witnessed breakthroughs on Science Island such as the "artificial sun" at Science Island, explored AI applications at iFLYTEK's headquarters, and observed the fully automated production at NIO’s new factory. Hefei's strategic growth is underscored by its GDP reaching 2772.1 billion yuan ($389.18 billion) this year and its rapid economic rise over the past decade.

Hefei’s success stems from long-term investment in foundational research, exemplified by the 1970s relocation of the University of Science and Technology of China and the growth of Hefei Institutes of Physical Science. The city’s strategic focus on home appliances, AI, and new energy vehicles  

GUi integrates top talent, research platforms, and innovation funds, fostering collaboration across industries, finance, and academia to create a thriving innovation ecosystem.
