A special meeting was chaired by Wang Qingxian, deputy secretary of the CPC Anhui Provincial Committee and governor of the province, on May 7 to delve into strategies for advancing future industries — including clean energy, artificial intelligence and quantum technology that Anhui is currently leading.
Recognizing these industries as the building blocks for new quality productive forces, Wang highlighted their role in steering socio-economic development and empowering other industries.
Forward-looking planning, policy guidance, and the integration of innovation, industry, and capital were highlighted in the meeting.
Wang stressed the need to boost technological innovation among enterprises, pool together high-tech industries, and establish robust mechanisms to propel future industries forward.
Anhui province boasts immense innovative and manufacturing capacity, with clear advantages in fields such as artificial intelligence, quantum information, and advanced structural materials, providing a solid foundation for the development of future industries. It is essential to enhance forward-looking planning and policy guidance to identify entry points for new industries and tracks, promote the in-depth integration of innovation, industry, finance, and talent chains, and strengthen collaboration among government, industry, academia, research, finance, and services. Additionally, Anhui must reinforce the central role of enterprises in technological innovation by establishing mechanisms for collaborative innovation and benefit-sharing between enterprises, research institutions and personnel. Furthermore, fostering the distinctive and concentrated development of future industries is crucial to cultivating a group of companies adept at transformative innovation and equipped with cutting-edge technologies. Finally, a comprehensive mechanism to advance future industries should be established, detailing action plans, organizational structures, and development plans to support policy implementation, Wang said.
Moreover, Wang called for the leveraging of platforms such as Grand Union of Innovation (GUi) to expand technological applications, garner social capital, and attract talent. Synchronized efforts should be coordinated among talent, officials, entities and industries to create a formidable synergy in driving industrial development, he said.
