Governor highlights technological reforms at GUi

Wang Qingxian, governor of Anhui province, visited the Grand Innovation of Union (GUi) on June 24, where he learned about the progress GUi is making in integrated industrial development and the advancement of new quality productive forces.

Since its establishment in June 2022, GUi has rapidly emerged as a place of high-level innovation in the province.

Governor Wang emphasized the importance of deepening scientific and technological reforms to create a premier innovation ecosystem and accelerate the development of new quality productive forces. He toured Guojing Instruments, a leading instrument research and manufacturing company brought to Hefei by the GUi Innovation Center, which boasts the latest cold field emission electron microscopy technology and is advancing its industrialization along with GUi.

He also visited the Kunpeng Mansion, a hub for the industrialization and commercialization projects of the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC), located in GUi. He examined the product development and marketing strategies of resident companies and encouraged them to continue to innovate. The need to develop new models for the synergy between scientific innovation and industry was also stressed.

At the GUiTEK service platform, the managing company of GUi, Governor Wang was briefed on GUI's development plans and chaired a symposium where he praised the progress made by GUi and gathered input from various stakeholders. He underlined the need to promote the transformation of innovative achievements, incubate innovative enterprises, and optimize the innovation ecosystem, positioning GUi as a "test field" for scientific and technological reform.

Looking ahead, Governor Wang outlined four key requirements, including improving systematic collaboration across different administrative levels, campuses and companies, enhancing the market-oriented operation capabilities of GUiTEK and establishing a comprehensive service system for resource linkage, research commercialization, enterprise incubation, and industry cultivation, strengthening the management of the GUi Industrial Guidance Fund so that it can cover the entire project lifecycle, and seeking national pilot projects to explore new ways to deepen sci-tech reforms and develop new quality productive forces.
