GUi guiding fund empowers sci-tech transformation, driving high-quality development

The guiding fund of the Grand Union of Innovation (GUi) has emerged as a driving force behind sci-tech transformation and high-quality development in Hefei, Anhui province. With its innovative approach and continuous efforts to foster a vibrant innovation ecosystem, the fund has garnered recognition as a leading investment agency.

Established in 2022, the GUi guiding fund boasts an initial capital of 1.5 billion yuan ($206.61 million), effectively turning social spare capital scaling 6 billion yuan into a source of investment fund, which has propelled Hefei's industrial upgrade by fueling the growth of cutting-edge industries and propelling the city's economic transformation.

The fund's success lies in its strategic investment focus on the "6+5+X" ecosystem, encompassing six major leading industrial clusters, five pioneering industrial clusters, and a continuous exploration of cutting-edge technology directions. This multifaceted approach ensures that the fund is leading technological advancements, supporting the development of next-generation industries.

A testament to the fund's impact is its support for pilot projects from small and medium-sized enterprises, including Hefei Yaozheng Quantum Technology Co Ltd. The fund has also pioneered the investment-loan linkage model (投贷联动), offering tailored financial support to SMEs, particularly technology-based enterprises.

"GUi offers a comprehensive service system for sci-tech talent, project landing, and enterprise financing", remarked Li Liangbin, head of Hefei Zhongke Youcai Technology Co Ltd. With GUi's assistance, the company secured tens of millions of yuan in angel round financing and obtained a loan of several million yuan before the financing. This enabled the company to swiftly recruit and establish a complete industrialization team, contributing to the timely commencement of production line and factory construction.

These efforts have largely addressed the unique financing needs of these enterprises, fostering their growth and propelling the region's innovation landscape.
