The Grand Union of Innovation has been working to remove the barriers hindering the transformation of research achievements into industrial applications, paving the way for a thriving ecosystem for tech firms in the park.
Liu Huan, founder of Hefei Moce Technology, a provider specializing in magnetic measurement technology solutions, attested to the indispensable role that GUi played in the successful industrialization and large-scale production of the innovative magnetometer developed by his company.
Liu said that in 2024, his company benefited from favorable policies and financial support from the GUi, leading to investments from the GUi Fund combined with Hefei's seed fund. This support enabled Moce Technology not only to industrialize its first-generation quantum magnetometer but also to assist in launching a second-generation product within the year, while exploring various application scenarios, he said.
Last year, GUi organized a special project roadshow aimed at fostering closer collaboration between university-led technological innovation and industry. The event specifically focused on identifying and removing barriers that hinder the transition of research achievements from academic settings to practical industrial applications and commercial markets, promoting the effective industrialization and commercialization of innovative research outcomes.
At the roadshow meeting, Cui Gaofeng, who is the director of the Institute of Science at Chang'an University located in Shaanxi province in Northwest China, was recognized as one of the first group of "campus ambassadors". These ambassadors are tasked with serving as a bridge between cutting-edge technological innovation and industrial application, facilitating collaboration between academia and industry. Cui expressed his strong enthusiasm for taking on this role, emphasizing his desire to actively explore and identify research achievements within universities that possess high potential for industrialization and commercialization.
The GUi has organized and established three specialized teams to enhance its operations and outreach efforts. These include the special task force dedicated to the research achievements transformation, a team of campus ambassadors, and a group of technology managers, who regularly conduct visits to various universities and laboratories to monitor ongoing research, foster partnerships, and actively promote the early discovery, documentation, publication, and transformation of significant technological achievements.
Over the past three years, GUi has attracted market-oriented and professional teams and fostered seamless collaboration between upstream and downstream entities.
Earlier this month, the Anhui Association for Integration of Technological and Industry Innovation was established to develop a comprehensive, specialized service platform designed to facilitate the exchange of expertise, resources, and product managers, driving the deep integration of scientific research, technological development, and industrial practices, enhancing the competitiveness and sustainability of industries within Anhui province by bridging the gap between academia and industry. Serving as the secretary-general unit of the association, GUi emphasizes its dedication to advancing the integration of technological and industrial innovation.
