Restored innovation park to boost Hefei's tech industry

On Aug 2, the 1986 Innovation Park, originally a research institute with a 40-year history of scientific research, opened to the public after undergoing a transformation, marking a new chapter in technological innovation in Shushan district and the city of Hefei.

The 1986 Innovation Park, aiming to build a community for youth entrepreneurship, is developed by Hefei Shushan District Technology Innovation Investment Group and Hony Capital, a global partner of the Grand Union of Innovation (GUi).

It stands on the site of the former research institute of China Electronics Technology Group and has evolved into a vibrant community blending innovation with modern life.

The park offers dedicated factory facilities, electronics manufacturing workshops, and a wide range of lifestyle amenities, including apartments, a smart cafeteria, a technology club, a cultural market, and a sports plaza. Together, these create a comprehensive ecosystem integrating technology, commerce, lifestyle, and innovation.

At the opening ceremony, representatives of the first batch of enterprises and platforms signed agreements to establish operations in the park, spanning emerging industries such as semiconductors, artificial intelligence, and new energy.

Among them, Zhu Yunshan, CEO of IC Bench, a leading semiconductor technology company, said that he chose to set up operations in the park because of its strong innovation resources and Hefei's robust integrated circuit industry cluster.

This is not just the rebirth of an old research site, but a continuation of Hefei's innovation history, according to an official from Shushan District Technology Innovation Investment Group.

The 1986 Innovation Park will play a pivotal role in driving industrial upgrading and shaping the future of the region's tech industry.
