Forum accelerates commercialization of USTC projects in GUi

On Aug 6, a forum focused on the commercialization of USTC projects within the Grand Union of Innovation (GUi) was held at the GUiTEK.

Seventeen representative teams from the University of Science and Technology of China (USTC) joined nearly 50 participants from GUiTEK, scenario application companies, and government agencies to discuss key topics, including policy updates, application scenarios, and financial support.

In 2021, USTC pioneered an empowerment reform and proposed a new model featuring the integration of empowerment with transfer and agreed income. This grants researchers ownership or long-term use rights of technological achievements, stimulating innovation and entrepreneurship.

Since the pilot reform began, nearly 90 percent of USTC's innovation commercialization programs have been established in the GUi, underscoring the strong appeal of its innovation ecosystem.

As Anhui's test field for reforming systems in science and technology, GUi has made continuous breakthroughs in platform development, talent support, commercialization, and financial facilitation.

A series of targeted policies have been implemented, including incentives for the local commercialization of technological achievements, special funding for high-level talent projects, dedicated talent recognition programs, and the Anhui Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition — all providing solid institutional support.

Furthermore, to ensure the industrial application of technology in Hefei, scenario companies act as hubs, ensuring an efficient connection between USTC's innovations and industrial needs.

During the discussion session, representatives of 17 enterprises shared challenges related to policies, funding, scenario matching, and talent recruitment. Leaders from GUiTEK, scenario companies, and relevant government departments responded on site, exploring practical solutions.

With talent as its foundation, policy as its driver, scenarios as its bridge, and capital as its catalyst, GUi is facilitating the effective commercialization and growth of more USTC innovations in Anhui.
