The list of China's newest batch of specialized and sophisticated "little giant" enterprises has been released, with 12 companies from the Grand Union of Innovation (GUi) making the list — accounting for one-sixth of Hefei's total new additions.
Hefei saw the emergence of 71 new "little giant" firms this year, up 18.3 percent year-on-year, ranking 11th nationwide. The city is currently home to 312 such enterprises, of which 35 are based in the GUi area — approximately 11 percent of its total.
At the provincial level, Anhui now hosts 690 "little giant" enterprises, with GUi accounting for 5 percent of the total. This year alone, the province saw 153 new entries, a 35.4 percent increase, among which GUi accounted for nearly 8 percent.
These "little giant" enterprises are highly specialized, innovative, and vital to high-quality development. The newly listed GUi companies span artificial intelligence, life and health sciences, quantum information, new energy, intelligent equipment, and low-carbon technologies — all key drivers of next-generation industries.
"As a hub for high-tech innovation, GUi is committed to fostering a vibrant ecosystem for startups and enterprises through policy support, resource integration, and collaborative platforms," said a representative of the GUiTEK Service Platform.
The recognition of these companies as "little giants" demonstrates the effectiveness of GUi's innovation-driven ecosystem.
Looking ahead, GUi will continue to use its strengths in high-tech industrial clustering to nurture more innovative enterprises, contributing to the sustained growth of Hefei and Anhui's economies.
