The 2026 Global Tech Talent Innovation and Entrepreneurship Competition kicked off at the Grand Union of Innovation (GUi) in May, an innovation hub in Hefei in East China’s Anhui province, in May, inviting tech talent from around the globe to gather under the theme "Go With Dream".
Simultaneously, the construction of the GUi technological incubation park is in full swing. This 600,000-square-meter facility is set to become a vibrant community for tech talent.
Together, these initiatives are paving the way for global tech talent to start businesses in Hefei.
The competition runs from May to September, featuring three major tracks covering over 20 cutting-edge fields. With a total prize pool of 4.2 million yuan ($618,000) and incentives totaling over 100 million yuan, it offers substantial support for entrepreneurs.
One distinctive feature of the competition is the support provided by GUi's Technology Managers' Office. From the moment a project is registered, a dedicated manager with expertise in technology, industry and entrepreneurship works closely with the team, offering guidance throughout the startup process.
A Tech Talent Academy will be established during the competition, providing entrepreneurs with practical training from concept testing to business management. High-quality projects gain priority access to community resources, precise connections to investment and financing, mentorship, and industry-academia-research cooperation.
The competition is not only a platform for project presentations but also a showcase of industry frontiers, a gathering for sci-tech talent, and a training ground for entrepreneurial skills.
The incubation park, also known as the Tech Talent Community, aims to enable aspiring tech entrepreneurs to found their own startups at low cost and grow efficiently. Constructed in two phases with a total construction area of 600,000 square meters, the incubation park will focus on areas such as artificial intelligence, aerospace information, quantum technology, and bio-manufacturing—new quality productive forces closely aligned with Hefei's industrial development goals.
The core design philosophy of the Tech Talent Community is to integrate innovative office spaces, project incubation, daily amenities, and business services within the same block or building, an initiative that GUi highlights in providing the end-to-end services to entrepreneurs.
GUi notes that the Tech Talent Community is designed to ensure that those who start up their businesses no longer need to be distracted by resource coordination or daily trivialities, and instead, they can simply go downstairs to find investment and partnerships, and solve their living needs around the corner, truly saving time to focus on core research and development.
More than 7,000 tech enterprises and sci-tech innovation service organizations have been operational in GUi, which also hosts over 80,000 various talents of innovation and entrepreneurship.
GUi emphasizes that talent mobility is no longer a "one-way introduction" model, and the community aims to create a globally recognized "sci-tech innovation hub" for tech talent.
