International doctoral scholars impressed by tech innovation in Hefei

The China Sci-Tech Tour for Overseas Doctoral Scholars, part of the "Global Talents Hefei Tour" program, concluded in Hefei in East China's Anhui province recently, serving as a bridge for friendly exchanges among international talents.

During the tour, 22 overseas doctoral scholars from 11 countries, including Germany, the United Kingdom, Italy and Austria, gathered in Hefei to explore various opportunities in scientific innovation in the city.

They visited the School of Integrated Circuits and the Industry-Education-Research Institute of Advanced Materials and Technology for Integrated Circuits at Anhui University. There, they engaged in discussions with faculty members about cutting-edge technologies and industrial applications in such fields as advanced storage and display driver.

At GUiTEK, the doctoral delegation learned about the operational mechanisms and incubation successes of the Grand Union of Innovation (GUi), an innovation hub in Hefei.

A doctoral scholar from The Polytechnic University of Milan in Italy expressed admiration for Hefei's industrial development, noting the presence of the complete industrial chain from basic research to application. "The support for tech talents and the efficiency of industrialization here far exceeded my expectations," he said.

Meanwhile, an Irish scholar specializing in electronic and electrical engineering described Hefei as a city with both cutting-edge technology and a livable environment. He said the modern infrastructure and strong atmosphere of innovation were truly refreshing.

The scholars also visited some cultural sites in Hefei to experience the rich cultural heritage of the region. At the Anhui Huangmei Opera Theater, they were captivated by the charm of the intangible cultural heritage on offer.

A symposium was held to help the international doctoral scholars learn more about Hefei. Officials from Anhui province and Hefei city attended this, expressing their desire to deepen international scientific cooperation and enhance mutual understanding.

The event provided an efficient platform for international tech talents to gain an in-depth understanding of Hefei's industrial ecosystem and innovation achievements. It is also helpful to link Hefei with international high-end intellectual resources and integrate high-quality projects with local innovation chains.
