The Royal Thai Consulate General in Xiamen was officially founded in September 2005 and was initially named Thai Consulate Office in Xiamen. Then it was upgraded to the consulate general in May 2006. The present consul general is Mr Pirawat Atsavapranee. The consulate general is in charge of all consul works in the provinces of Fujian and Jiangxi.
The consulate general has played important roles in the exchanges and cooperation between Xiamen city and Thailand, and enabled several visits of Thailand's royal family members to Xiamen. They facilitated mutual cooperation and development for economy, trade, culture, education and tourism.
