Zhoushan Port handles over 700m tons of cargo in 2025
Zhoushan Port, part of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port in East China's Zhejiang province, reported cargo throughput of 704 million metric tons in 2025, a 3.05 percent year-on-year increase, with annual container throughput hitting 4.6 million twenty-foot equivalent units, up 30.58 percent.
This surge is bolstered by new infrastructure developments, such as Zhoushan Port's addition of several world-class deep-water berths, bringing the total number of berths capable of handling ships of 10,000 deadweight tonnage or above to 104. This development creates a leading cluster of specialized deep-water berths in China, capable of accommodating the world's largest ore carriers and tankers.
The Shulanghu terminal in Zhoushan, the only facility globally capable of simultaneously docking two 400,000-ton ore carriers, has become a key pillar of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port's throughput capability.

The expanded Tiaozhoumen channel entered trial operation in December and allows 200,000-ton container ships to navigate at all times and 300,000-ton oil tankers to transit efficiently when the tide is favorable, which is expected to increase ultra-large vessel throughput in the core port areas of Ningbo-Zhoushan Port by over 50 percent.
Construction of container terminals at the Fodu operation area in the Liuheng port area in Zhoushan has begun. With a total investment of 21.1 billion yuan ($3.02 billion), this project aims to develop seven large specialized container berths, further cementing Ningbo-Zhoushan Port's role as East China's international shipping hub.
Efforts continue to optimize customs processes and enhance operational efficiency at Zhoushan Port, delivering efficient, convenient services for container vessels.
