Ningbo-Wilhelmshaven route increases sailings

Ningbo-Zhoushan Port has increased the frequency of its China-Europe Express service to Wilhelmshaven, moving from monthly departures to a biweekly schedule and providing faster, more reliable shipping for high-value and time-sensitive goods.

The expansion responds to growing demand from Chinese exporters, particularly in new-energy sectors. Companies such as CATL and BYD rely on the route to transport electric vehicles, lithium batteries, and solar panels.

The service offers a direct, one-container-to-destination model that cuts handling steps, reducing time and risk. With a stable 28-day transit time, shipments benefit from enhanced predictability, supported by Germany's Wilhelmshaven hazardous goods storage and Ningbo's streamlined port procedures.

Since its inaugural voyage on Dec 30, 2024, the China-Europe Express has completed 11 sailings — over 11,000 twenty-foot equivalent units (TEUs). The addition of two alternating vessels has doubled the frequency and increased flexibility for exporters managing production and inventory in Europe.

The route is now considered one of the fastest and most reliable maritime links between the Yangtze River Delta region and Central Europe, strengthening China-Europe trade resilience and supporting the global expansion of China's high-end manufacturing sector.
