US power technology company Cummins (China) Investment Co Ltd and E-Quality Intelligent Technology Wuxi Co Ltd signed a collaborative agreement on Aug 8 to establish a new joint venture in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province.
The partnership will focus on the development and production of automotive electronic control systems and related products.
Zhao Jianjun, mayor of Wuxi, said at the signing ceremony that he is delighted to see Cummins join forces with a highly promising local enterprise, and that this collaboration will surely inject fresh impetus into the city's automotive component industry.
He also expressed hope that while building the joint venture, Cummins would leverage its advantages in markets, technology, and supply chains to deepen cooperation with Wuxi in fields like new energy vehicles by introducing more cutting-edge projects, products, and high-quality companies.
Marina Savelli, vice-president of Cummins and global president of electronics, said the joint venture holds immense significance for Cummins' electronics business, as it further explores the Chinese market and accelerates its global presence. She commended Wuxi's robust industrial foundation and favorable business environment, acknowledging their attractiveness to Cummins.
Cummins has been doing business in Wuxi since 1996. With four companies already established in the Wuxi National Hi-tech District, Cummins has a product range encompassing turbochargers, generators, components, automatic transmissions, and more.
E-Quality is a potential unicorn enterprise in Jiangsu province and has already achieved comprehensive coverage of powertrain-related products with its automotive controllers.
