Yao Juan, hailing from Wuxi, Jiangsu province, clinched the championship with an impressive throw of 12.53 meters in the women's shot put F64 final at the 2024 Paris Paralympics on Sept 5.
This victory marks her second medal at the Paralympic Games, following her earlier silver medal in the women's discus throw F64 event.
Yao holds world records in the shot put, discus throw, and javelin throw disciplines. Her throw of 12.53 meters in the women's shot put F64 event stands as her season's best performance.
In May of this year, Yao secured the title in the women's shot put F64 final at the 11th Para Athletics World Championships, achieving a distance of 12.50 meters.
The Paris Paralympic Games may signify her final appearance at the Paralympics. Nonetheless, as a coach for the Jiangsu para-athletics team, one of her proteges, Xu Mian, seized the silver medal in the women's discus throw F57 final with a remarkable distance of 32.81 meters, marking a personal best in this event.
