Jiangnan University in Wuxi, East China's Jiangsu province, recently ranked first worldwide in food science and technology in the ShanghaiRanking's 2024 Global Ranking of Academic Subjects.
Nineteen of the university's disciplines made the list, with its textile science and engineering discipline ranking second in the world and bioengineering discipline ranking third.
Over 3,000 universities around the world were evaluated for the ranking, with more than 1,900 universities in 96 countries and regions ultimately appearing on the lists for various subjects. It used five modules and nine internationally comparable objective academic indicators to measure the academic competitiveness of universities in various subjects.
In early November, JU's School of Digital Technology and Creative Design joined with Wuxi Lighting Co to establish the Digital Light and Shadow Research Center at the Xiakewan campus. They previously established the Postgraduate Innovation and Practice Base together.
JU was among the first higher education institutions approved by China's Ministry of Education to enroll international students and has been actively engaged in international exchanges and cooperation for many years.
The School of International Education is a college of Jiangnan University. Its main duties include the education and supervision of international students, the provision of Mandarin Chinese language learning for foreigners, and the administration of exchange programs with foreign universities.
