A list of new industrialization industry demonstration bases was recently released by the Industry and Information Technology Department of Jiangsu Province and a wind power equipment venture in the Rudong Economic Development Zone was selected.

Located in Rudong county, administered by Nantong city in East China's Jiangsu, the wind power operation was one of four bases to be recognized on the list.

The new industrialization industrial demonstration bases are located in large-scale clusters that are reportedly developing in a sustainable way. They are mainly in industrial parks and represent advanced levels in terms of their industrial upgrading, technological transformation, independent innovation, military-civilian integration, energy conservation and reduced emissions, among other things.

Founded in 1992, the Rudong Economic Development Zone has a planned area of 140 square kilometers and was the first provincial development zone in Rudong county.

It was once rated, at one time, as the most valuable development zone for investment in the Yangtze River Delta region.

Relying on its abundant offshore and onshore wind power resources, the zone has worked hard to develop its advanced wind power equipment sector and has formed a relatively complete industry supply chain covering equipment manufacturing, technology consulting, operations and maintenance.

It is also home to branches and subsidiaries of Global 500 companies such as SANY Group – the leading Chinese equipment manufacturer and supplier – and some of China's top 500 private enterprises, such as the ZTT Group.

At present, the zone has over 70 wind power equipment manufacturers and related enterprises. It achieved 36.8 billion yuan ($5.69 billion) in taxable sales last year, a year-on-year increase of 20.8 percent.
