The 2023 China Nantong Jianghai Talent Entrepreneurship Week commenced in Nantong, East China's Jiangsu province, on July 12.

The event was attended by academicians, representatives of unicorn companies, startups, venture capital investment institutions, and Nantong-born students.

Nantong published measures to promote the high-quality development of talent at the opening ceremony, which focus on attracting high-end industrial talent and young talent and creating a first-class environment for talent growth.

High-end talent or teams will receive up to 10 million yuan ($1.40 million) in subsidies for solving major technical difficulties. Young talent will receive subsidies in transportation and accommodation as well as subsistence allowances from local authorities.

Nantong also released policies about building a higher-level innovative city, which include improving the industrial development level, consolidating the main position of innovation, and strengthening the construction of platforms.

A talent service platform was also launched at the ceremony. It includes a Jianghai Talent Card applet, which offers information about policies, employment, entertainment, social communication, and more.

Nantong also joined hands with Tsinghua University, Nanjing University, Southeast University, and other universities to build an alliance for university students' social practices at the ceremony.

Wu Xinming, Party secretary of Nantong, noted that the city will fulfill its commitment to talent and continue improving its business environment to allow its talent to work and live comfortably.

Wu also invited Nantong-born young talent and university students to start businesses or work in Nantong.

During the week-long event, a series of activities including city tours, overseas high-level talent summit, and a press conference for microelectronic technologies will be held.

Nantong has hosted the event for 13 years. Currently, the city is home to 1.57 million talents, including 130,000 at a medium or high-level.
