Nantong's GDP up 6.2% in 2024

The GDP of Nantong in East China's Jiangsu province expanded by 6.2 percent year-on-year in 2024 to nearly 124.22 billion yuan ($17.13 billion), according to Nantong municipal bureau of statistics.

The value added of the city's primary, secondary, and tertiary industries reached 53.21 billion yuan, 590.68 billion yuan, and 598.30 billion last year, representing year-on-year growth rates of 2.7 percent, 6.9 percent, and 5.7 percent, respectively.

The total retail sales of consumer goods in the city amounted to 427.75 billion yuan in 2024, marking a 1.5 percent increase from the previous year. Online meal ordering has gained traction, with designated units generating 650 million yuan in revenue through public networks, reflecting a year-on-year growth of 21.1 percent.

Nantong's foreign trade volume recorded 394.99 billion yuan last year, an increase of 12.9 percent from the previous year. Among them, the total import volume was 134.17 billion yuan, an increase of 10.8 percent; the total export volume was 260.82 billion yuan, an increase of 13.9 percent.

The per capita disposable income of local residents totaled 54,641 yuan in 2024, an increase of 2,788 yuan or 5.4 percent over the previous year. Specifically, the per capita disposable income of urban and rural residents was 65,457 yuan and 35,136 yuan, respectively, up 4.7 percent and 6.5 percent year-on-year. The urban-rural income ratio in the city was narrowed from 1.896 in 2023 to 1.863 in 2024.
