The liquefied natural gas project constructed by Jiangsu Guoxin LNG is making significant progress. With 75 percent of the construction completed, the project, which has a total investment of 7.72 billion yuan ($1.06 billion), is expected to be finished by the end of the year.
The Jiangsu LNG Storage and Regulation Project, with an investment of 5.21 billion yuan, aims to build three 200,000-cubic-meter LNG storage tanks along with supporting facilities. Meanwhile, the Guoxin LNG Receiving Station, with an investment of 2.51 billion yuan, includes the construction of one 200,000-cubic-meter LNG storage tank and a dedicated LNG terminal capable of handling between 80,000 and 266,000 cubic meters.
Qi Jiaming, deputy general manager of Jiangsu Guoxin LNG, provided an update on the progress. The three storage tanks and supporting pipe corridors for the Jiangsu LNG Storage and Regulation Project have been fully completed, with the welding of pipelines reaching 40 percent. At the Guoxin LNG Receiving Station, the outer shell of the storage tank has been completed, while the terminal construction has advanced, with a 500-meter steel trestle bridge erected and over 400 underwater foundation piles installed.
The Guoxin LNG project plays a crucial role in Jiangsu's strategic natural gas reserves, ensuring regional energy security, optimizing the local energy mix, and promoting a diversified gas supply network. Once fully operational, the project's four LNG storage tanks will have a total capacity of 800,000 cubic meters, an annual turnover of 6 million tons, and a maximum daily gasification output of 60 million cubic meters. This capacity will be sufficient to meet Jiangsu's emergency gas demand for three days, reinforcing the province's stable and secure energy supply.
