New community health center in Chongchuan set to open in October
The construction of the new community health service center in Langshan town, Chongchuan district, Nantong, is progressing and is expected to open in October this year.
The five main buildings, including the outpatient and maternal and child health buildings, have all reached their roof stages. Workers are now focused on exterior painting and interior decoration.
The new health center will cover an area of approximately 13,000 square meters, with about 7,000 square meters underground for facilities like a motor vehicle garage, civil defense areas, and equipment rooms. The above-ground sections will feature various functional areas, including emergency services, preventive healthcare, medical technology, inpatient services, rehabilitation and elderly care, and logistics support. The facility is designed to accommodate around 100 beds.
Once completed, the center will be designed to meet the standards of a secondary hospital, providing integrated medical, nursing, rehabilitation, and healthcare services. It will be able to fully meet the healthcare needs of residents, offering treatment for common and frequently occurring diseases, as well as inpatient care, surgery, and rehabilitation services.
Langshan town, which has a population of 83,000, currently has the Nantong Maternal and Child Health Care Hospital, a tertiary hospital. However, the existing community health center in Langshan faces space limitations and outdated equipment, making it unable to meet the growing demand for tiered healthcare services.
The new center will offer additional services compared to the old facility, including inpatient care, rehabilitation, elderly care, a traditional Chinese medicine center, and a 500-square-meter specialized chronic disease management center.
