An art exhibition about the paintings of Wang Kui opened at the Geyi Art Museum in Nantong, Jiangsu province, on Feb 25.
Wang was born in Suzhou in 1950, and his ancestral home is in Haimen, Nantong. Since childhood, he studied under his grandfather, the famous calligrapher and painter Wang Geyi, learning the style of Wu Changshuo in calligraphy and painting.
While engaging in art education for a long time, he diligently studied and innovated, gradually forming his painting style. He excels in freehand flower and bird painting, with plum blossoms, wisteria, pomegranates, and grapes being his specialties. His works are collected by institutions and collectors such as the Wu Changshuo Memorial Hall and the Qi Baishi Memorial Hall.
This exhibition showcases 42 of his masterpieces. These works feature flowers with well-structured compositions, decisive brushwork, vivid colors, and a strong visual impact and appeal.
