By leveraging its geographical and resource advantages, Rudong is accelerating the construction of a new energy system while positioning itself as a national model city for green energy. Through expansion of wind and solar power, upgrading equipment, and enhancing energy storage, the county is steadily increasing its renewable energy capacity, improving efficiency, and ensuring consistent energy output.

Rudong's abundance of sunlight makes it ideal for solar power development. Following an eco-friendly, efficient, and step-by-step approach, the county has planned 17 offshore photovoltaic projects across approximately 83.6 square kilometers of sea area. The Guohua Rudong offshore photovoltaic project, with a total installed capacity of 400,000 kilowatts, is already connected to the grid, generating an estimated 468 million kilowatt-hours annually.

Additionally, Offshore wind power is developing. On Jan 27, three offshore wind projects, worth 1.15 million kilowatts, were awarded to China Energy, Huadian, and Three Gorges Corporation, bringing Rudong's total planned wind and solar power capacity to 7.67 million kilowatts.

According to Zhou Hua, chief engineer at the Rudong Development and Reform Commission, the renewable energy sector is progressing beyond expectation. With continuous technological advancements and cost reductions, upgrading existing equipment has become a priority. Rudong is actively promoting the transformation of its onshore wind farms, which have a planned upgrade capacity of 2.5 million kilowatts.

"Upgrading wind farms maximizes land and wind resource efficiency," Zhou noted. Rudong will continue to support the modernization of wind and solar projects, introduce cutting-edge technologies and smart equipment, and enhance power generation efficiency and stability.
