In recent years, Rudong has been deepening rural living environment improvements, elevating villages from being clean and tidy to becoming ideal places for living.

In 2024, Rudong focused on rural toilet renovation, domestic sewage treatment, water environment management, and waste disposal to enhance the living environment. The county has successfully established 23 provincial-level model villages for livability and industry integration and three provincial-level green and beautiful villages. 

Efforts have also been made to improve rural planning, housing conditions, and infrastructure. Rudong maintains a leading air quality ranking in Jiangsu province and has been recognized as a provincial demonstration zone for rural domestic sewage management through socialized governance. 

Rudong is integrating industries to ensure its beautiful countryside has aesthetic appeal and economic value. Wainong district's Jinhai village is leading in coastal aquaculture, Juegang sub-district's Hongqiao village is developing a modern agricultural industrial park, and Bencha town's Minghai community is leveraging agritourism to revitalize underutilized resources. This has strengthened the rural economy while enhancing the quality of life for residents.
