The Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) in East China's Jiangsu province has over the past decade implemented a series of measures to promote its high-quality development.

For example, NETDA had conducted a training course this April to help workers improve their professional skills in attracting investment.

The area has secured 25 domestic-funded projects with an investment of 36.83 billion yuan ($5.09 billion) and 16 foreign-funded projects with an investment of $2.45 this year. The actual utilization of foreign capital in NETDA over the last 10 years has amounted to $6.4 billion.

NETDA has in recent years also taken steps, including holding promotional events, establishing industrial alliances and building industrial parks, to bolster its pillar industries – new generation information technology, high-end equipment, new energy and biomedicine.

The output value of NETDA's new energy, new generation information technology, and high-end equipment industries in 2021 was 10 billion yuan, 33.1 billion yuan and 34.4 billion yuan respectively, year-on-year increases of 140 percent, 50 percent and 30 percent.

In addition, NETDA has held road shows in cities such as Shanghai, Wuhan, Chengdu and Xi'an to lure more high-caliber talents. The area has welcomed 3,000 professionals over the past decade, with 98 of them being top national level talents.

Furthermore, the area has rolled out policies to encourage major enterprises to increase their investments in R&D. NETDA is currently home to 215 national high-tech enterprises.
