NETDA leaps forward in satellite manufacturing

en.nantong.gov.cn| Updated: April 8, 2025 L M S

Two test satellites for satellite internet technology from the Nantong Economic and Technological Development Area (NETDA) were launched on April 1, marking the start of the region's robust technological prowess.

Test satellites for satellite internet technology are primarily used for technical verification and experiments, including direct mobile broadband connectivity with satellites and integrating space-ground networks.

GalaxySpace's Nantong Satellite Smart Factory manufactured the satellites, the first fully qualified satellite intelligent manufacturing facility in the Yangtze River Delta region. This launch marks another milestone following the successful launch of a test satellite for satellite internet technology developed by the factory in November 2024.

With its headquarters in Beijing, GalaxySpace has launched over 20 self-developed satellites, including China's first batch of low-Earth orbit (LEO) broadband communication satellites and the world's first distributed multi-satellite SAR (synthetic aperture radar) constellation.

Established in 2020, its Nantong factory has employed advanced technologies like intelligent assembly robots, automated measurement systems, digital manufacturing platforms, and automated integrated testing systems. An annual production capacity of hundreds of medium-sized satellites represents a leap forward in satellite manufacturing capabilities across the region.
