Flowers, Chinese Lunar New Year items, and intangible cultural performances are to be purchased or enjoyed at the Zhuhai Sports Center in New Xiangzhou from 8:30 am to 10 pm daily throughout Jan 24.

The 2020 Zhuhai Spring Festival Flower Fair opened on Jan 15 to welcome visitors with a flower-studded archway 24 m (26 yd) wide and 12 m (13 yd) tall. The design, inspired by the city logo, highlights the Hong Kong-Zhuhai-Macao Bridge and the pearl of the Fisher Maiden statue.

Covering 20,000 sq m (5 acres), the fair has 225 booths in dedicated zones for common flowers and potted Mandarin orange trees, high-end flowers, Spring Festival couplets, and public welfare.

A wide variety of flowers and plants for sale include boat (cymbidium) and butterfly orchids, azalea (rhododendron), anthurium, coral berry (ardisia crenata), cyclamen, succulents, pachira aquatica (money trees), and potted Chinese scholar trees.

High-end cally lily (zantedeschia hybrid), guzmania "El Cope," winterberry (ilex verticillata), and amaryllis (hippeastrum) also are priced basically the same as last year. Spring Festival papercuts for window decoration, paintings, and couplets can also be bought.

The organizer has cooperated with SF Express to offer flowers and potted Mandarin orange trees deliveries. Purchases made before 6 pm can be received in Zhuhai urban areas and Zhongshan's Sanxiang and Tanzhou towns the same day.

For the first time, intangible cultural elements are integrated into the fair. Visitors can get involved in paper-cutting, sugar-painting, sugar figure blowing, straw and aluminum weaving, and making clay figurines at the Public Welfare Zone near the Command Center.

Lion and Qianshan Phoenix-Rooster dances, parades of traditional Han clothing and the God of Wealth, Sichuan Opera face-changing, and long-mouth teapot performances will be showcased at the east entrance of the Sports Center and Exhibition Zone at 11 am and 4 pm from Jan 20 to 24.

In the West Wing of Zhuhai, the 14th Doumen Spring Festival Flower Fair has 250 booths for flowers, culinary delicacies, and Spring Festival commodities on Xidi Road near Huangyang River Wetland Park in Jing'an Town from 9 am to 10 pm daily until New Year's Eve.
